Jacob Barrow - LinkedInMy name is Jacob Barrow. With over 6 years of professional experience in User Experience Design, I know how to bring teams together through great design documentation, user-centered strategy, and agile (Scrum) methodologies. I am an engineer at heart, but prefer the key role of bridging the gap between end-users, engineers, analysts and stakeholders. My education is in Graphic Design and visual communication, but the thing I love most is interaction design through proper discovery, research, and validation before implementation.

- Description:
- The Rights Management software suite is an enterprise web app for a large non-profit organization. Its purpose is to track and regulate the legal agreements and intellectual property of the organization while facilitating document creation, review and storage workflows. It has a user base of over 1,000 users and has replaced or seamlessly integrated numerous systems and data sources. The application provides extensive role-management, system notification preferences, custom views, and makes its data available to other applications through web services.
- My Responsibilities:

- Create all wireframes, prototypes (static and interactive), and visual design.
- Construct user stories and define acceptance criteria for use by testers and developers.
- Perform customer interviews, gather requirements, and provide end-user training.
- Assist with usability testing and heuristic evaluation.

- Description:
- The Mobile Rights Management iPad App allows for contracts to be assembled by producers and agents in the field without any internet connection. They are then able to securely upload the data to the Rights Management Server where it is archived and made available to Rights Management Web App users. The app supports both portrait and landscape orientations and includes graphics for both standard and retina displays.

- Gather business requirements for current use cases while considering future functionality and enterprise demands.
- Provide all wireframes, prototypes (static), and visual design including style guides and visual element production.
- Create user stories and define acceptance criteria for use by testers and developers.

- Description:
- Speed of Trust, a division of FranklinCovey®, helps businesses and professionals to improve profitablilty and efficiency by teaching principles of trust in the corporate environment.
- My Responsibilities:
- I did all the front-end development, user-experience design and content management integration. The site features a complex event management system which allows events hosted under different categories and regions to be managed completely by the client from a graphic user interface. It also supports event booking with registration and capacity management.
- Description:
- Custom Google Map interface for displaying US Department of Agriculture projects funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Map can be viewed at www.usda.gov/recovery/map.
- My Responsibilities:
- I designed the geospatial interface, defined the map interaction and developed much of the front-end code for interfacing with the database. I also led communications and file management between developers, project managers and the datacenters.
- Description:
- Perform X Plus is an authorized distributor of EFX holographic technology prodcuts. PerformXPlus.com is a full functioning eCommerce website allowing wholesale buyer authentication, product/catalog discounts, and an affiliate referral system.http://www.performxplus.com
- My Responsibilities:
- I designed and built this website entirely using Adobe Creative Suite, the Adobe Business Catalyst platform, JavaScript/jQuery and XHTML and CSS.
- Description:
- Suncrest Auto deals in pre-owned vehicle sales and trade-ins. This site includes a vehicle listing manager, search, account login with "My Favorites" and vehicle-specific comment/inquiry forms.
- My Responsibilities:
- I designed and built this website entirely using Adobe Creative Suite, the Adobe Business Catalyst platform, JavaScript/jQuery and XHTML and CSS.
- Description:
- Project for the US Forest Service, Center for Bottomland Hardwoods Research. This application provides general information and interactive distribution maps of crayfishes known to occur in the state of Mississippi. http://maps.fs.fed.us/crayfish
- My Responsibilities:
- I led communication with the client for the entire project, designed the application myself, guided Java developers and did most of the front-end development using JavaScript, XHTML and CSS.
